EHang plans to establish a regional hub in Thailand to support the deployment of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft across Southeast Asia and other emerging markets, the company said on October 30. The facility is intended to coordinate regional resources and support project implementation for its advanced air mobility programs.
Initial fleet planned for Thailand
The company said it plans to deploy an initial fleet of 25 EH216-S uncrewed passenger-carrying eVTOL aircraft in Thailand. EHang described the fleet as a platform for market-specific flight validation, operational preparation and project work in Thailand and neighboring markets. The announcement does not represent a commercial launch of passenger service; it sets out the company’s deployment and validation plans.
EHang’s Thailand activity already includes its drone light-show business. The company said approximately 1,200 GD4.0 formation drones have been deployed in the country, with plans to increase that fleet to more than 10,000 units. The existing operation is intended to provide an operational base as EHang expands its work in advanced air mobility.
| Activity | Status or timing |
|---|---|
| Thailand regional hub | To be established |
| EH216-S fleet | 25 aircraft initially planned |
| Sri Lanka validation | Sandbox and flights planned for November |
| Vietnam validation | Flights planned in November in the Hanoi sandbox area |
| Bangkok demonstration | EH216-S flights planned for December |
Validation plans across the region
EHang said it will launch a sandbox with validation flights at Port City in Sri Lanka in November. Commercial operations there are targeted to begin by the end of the year. The company also expects to conduct validation flights in Vietnam during November within the Hanoi sandbox area.
In December, EHang plans to demonstrate EH216-S flights during the International Civil Aviation Organisation AAM Symposium in Bangkok. The event is part of the company’s effort to use Thailand as a base for projects in surrounding markets, rather than limiting the hub to domestic operations.
- Thailand: regional coordination and the planned initial EH216-S fleet
- Sri Lanka: validation flights at Port City in November, with commercial operations targeted by year-end
- Vietnam: validation flights planned in the Hanoi sandbox area in November
- Thailand in December: EH216-S demonstration planned at the International Civil Aviation Organisation AAM Symposium
The plans place EHang’s pilotless passenger aircraft alongside its established drone-show activity in Thailand. The company has not described the planned regional hub as a completed commercial air-taxi network. Its stated role is to support validation, operational preparation and project execution as EHang pursues eVTOL deployment in Southeast Asia and other emerging markets.
